Natural Libido Boosting Fat Bomb

LIBIDO BOOSTING ADAPTOGENS + APHRODISIAC FAT BOMBS RECIPE

Low sex drive - it’s a complex subject to try to address in just one blog post, as there are a number of reasons that could contribute to a lack of sexual desire like physical, mental and emotional factors. Things like stress, side-effects of different medications, or an imbalance of hormones in your body can all be major mood killers. Sometimes it can even be a result of the foods that we eat - greasy foods full of rancid trans-fats, energy-zapping simple carbs, or too much sugar and refined foods can deplete your body of the nutrients it needs for feeling balanced and thriving, including having properly functioning sex hormones.

You can nourish your libido by creating a healthy foundation in your body with eating lots of nutrient-rich foods and drinking plenty of clean, filtered water. You can also experiment with certain adaptogens that have been studied for their libido boosting effects. These are a few favourite mood enhancing superfoods to incorporate into nourishing elixirs, smoothies or super snacks like the aphrodisiac fat bomb recipe down below.

ASHWAGANDHA

Ashwagandha is a favourite adaptogen among people who use it for dealing with issues such as anxiety, fatigue and insomnia, among others. It has also been researched for its ability to stimulate sex drives in both men and women (1). Combine a serving of Anima Mundi Ashwagandha in an elixir with ghee and honey for a soothing drink in the evening.

MACA

Maca is a Peruvian tuber plant (a root) that has been studied for its energy boosting and aphrodisiac properties. Known as "Peruvian Ginseng", the health benefits of maca include its ability to benefit libido and fertility, as well as having a possible soothing effect on anxiety and depression.

Another great libido boosting food is healthy FAT in the form of long and medium-chain fatty acids, such as nuts, coconut oil, MCT oil, olive oil, ghee, avocado, and wild salmon. Fat helps your body in creating the hormones that keep various metabolic functions in balance, as well as helping to beat fatigue and brain fog by providing energy to your brain. Try pairing a serving of saturated fat with an adaptogen or two in a coffee, tea or other beverage of choice, or in a snack like this chocolate fat bomb recipe below.

Aphrodisiac Fat Bomb Recipe

Full of healthy fats, these bite-sized aphrodisiac fat bombs are perfect for satiating your appetite and calming down any cravings you may have. They are low carb and keto-diet approved if you leave out the sweetener, and are a convenient snack to have on hand in your fridge or freezer.

APHRODISIAC FAT BOMBS

INGREDIENTS
1 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
½ cup macadamia nuts
¼  cup hemp seeds
3 tbsp Nutiva coconut flour (here)
½  cup Nutiva coconut manna / butter, softened* (here)
½  cup coconut oil, melted
⅓  cup almond butter
2 scoops Vital Proteins collagen peptides (here) (or vegan protein powder substitute - here)
2 tbsp maple syrup (optional)**
3 tbsps Giddy Yoyo cacao powder - here)
1 tbsp of a libido boosting adaptogen (I used ½ tbsp Ashwagandha and ½ tbsp Maca)
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ tsp cardamom
¼ tsp pink salt (or sea salt)

* If your coconut butter is hard, place the jar in a sink or large bowl filled with hot tap water. Wait about 10 minutes until the butter is softened, then give it a good stir if the coconut oil has separated from the butter to combine.

** Reduce the sweetener, or leave it out completely to make these Whole30 and keto friendly. I didn’t add any maple syrup to them and found that they were sweet enough as they were from the natural sweetness of the coconut and nut butters.

  1. In a food processor, blend together the first four ingredients until processed into a fine powder.
  2. Add in the remaining ingredients and blend until smooth and combined. The mixture will be really runny at this point.
  3. Pour the mix into silicone molds. Place in the freezer for about half an hour or until set, then pop the fat bombs out of their molds and store in a glass container in the fridge or freezer. If you don’t have any silicone molds to use, pour the mix into a baking dish and place that in the freezer until nearly set, then slice into bite sized squares and store in the fridge.
